Werner Hacke

Werner Hacke ( born March 18, 1948 in Duisburg ) is a German neurologist and professor at the Ruprecht -Karls- University of Heidelberg.

Life

Hoe studied from 1968 to 1974 Psychology and Medicine at the RWTH Aachen. He received his specialist training in the Psychiatric Hospital Gangelt, at the Neurological University Clinic Aachen and at the Neurological Clinic of the University of Bern. The doctorate in 1975. He received his Board certification in neurology and psychiatry in 1980. From 1980 to 1986 he was senior physician at the Department of Neurology, RWTH Aachen, in 1983, after his habilitation, to 1986 chief medical officer and from 1985 C2 - Professor of neurology. From 1986 to 1987 he served as a " visiting professor " at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla / San Diego ( California ) operates.

In the spring of 1987 he was offered the C4 professor of neurology at the Neurological University Hospital Heidelberg and at that time was the youngest director of a neurological clinic of history in Germany. He was Dean of the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg from 1989 to 1991 and 1993 until 1994.

Hoe is for more than 30 years, married with Monika hoe and father of two daughters, the radiologist Nicola hoe and the lawyer Stefanie hoe.

Services

Hacke's clinical and research activities lie in the field of cerebrovascular disease and neurological intensive care medicine. He was the editor and the editorial board of several international scientific journals such as Neurology, Stroke, J. Neurological Sciences, Cerebrovascular Diseases and others. For over 20 years, he is co-editor of the neurologist.

He has many international guidelines changing clinical studies on prevention (SPACE 1 and 2, CHARISMA, ROCKET - AF) and therapy ( ECASS 1-4, DIAS 1.2, DESTINY 1, 2, 3 NEST ) directed and is corresponding author for the European guidelines for stroke treatment.

With over 330 original articles and reviews and an h - index of 77, he is the most quoted worldwide neurologist and stroke researcher.

He is an honorary member of the American Neurological Association, the Pan - Russian Society of Neurology, the French Neurological Association and many national and international stroke societies and honorary doctorate from the Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia.
