Werner Hug

Werner Hug ( born October 10, 1952 in Field Miles) is a Swiss chess master.

Hug was World Junior Champion in 1971 in Athens and was awarded in recognition of his success then by FIDE the title of International Master. In 1975, he won the Swiss single championship. Between 1972 and 2012 he took 13 times for Switzerland participated in Chess Olympiads. In 1979 he presented in Emmen near Lucerne, a world record in simultaneous chess: he played simultaneously on 560 boards, winning 385, remisierte 126 and lost 49 games. His Elo rating is 2469 (as of March 2012) so he is number 7 of the Swiss rankings.

Hug plays with the club Chess Club Zurich in the Swiss National League A team championship.
