Werner Kiem

Werner Kiem ( born November 30, 1962) is a former Italian biathlete and today's sports official.

Werner Kiem took since the first half of the 1980s at the Biathlon World Cup competitions. First points he collected in 1985 as a Single Page 22 in Lahti. A little later he ran as a Sprint- 19th for the first time among the top 20 In the Biathlon World Championships 1985 in Ruhpolding, he reached the 30th place in singles and was 34th in the sprint. In 1986, he achieved his best result in a single race at the World Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo as a Fifth -placed. He also won with Gottlieb Taschler, Johann Andreas Zingerle Passler and bronze in the relay race. The Biathlon World Championships 1987 in Lake Placid, he finished as the 20th of the Single Page. Very successfully ran the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary for the Italians. In individual, although he reached only number 43, together with Taschler Passler and Zingerle he became the first runner of the season the bronze medal. Another good result reached Kiem at the Biathlon World Championships 1989 in Feistritzwerke together with Wilfried Pallhuber, Simon Demetz and Hubert Leitgeb fourth in the team race. In 1989, he finished his career.

Currently Kiem President of the toboggan clubs ASV Laces Raiffeisen and Vice President of the Fédération Internationale de Luge de Course. As President of the Organizing Committee, he was responsible for the organization of the natural track luge World Cup 2005 in Laces.
