Werner Klatt

Werner Klatt (born 21 December 1948 in Schönberg ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic, who won an Olympic gold medal with the roller 1976.

Klatt was discovered by Karl Lorke, the head coach of the ASK forward Rostock, in the cucumber crop in Schoenberg. In 1969, he won together with Karl -Heinz Prudöhl, Peter Gorny and Bernd Meerbach the GDR champion in coxless four. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt the four received the bronze medal. 1970 won Klatt and Gorny in Canada the world title in the pairs without coxswain. 1971 was followed by the East German championship and the victory at the European Championships in Copenhagen. After an injury of Peter Gorny the reigning world and European champions but failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Munich. After the 1972 season Gorny ended his career.

Werner Klatt moved for the rest of his career in the eighth and won in 1973, 1974 and 1975 in the GDR championships. 1973 winners are Heinrich Mederow, Detlef lamb, Friedrich- Wilhelm Ulrich, Andreas Decker, Stefan Semmler, Bernd Landvoigt, Karl -Heinz Prudöhl, Werner Klatt and helmsman Karl -Heinz Danielowski also at the European Championships in Moscow. After the fourth place at the World Championships 1974, the GDR - aft 1975 won in Nottingham the world title in the occupation of Karl -Heinz Prudöhl, Ulrich Karnatz, Roland Kostulski, Werner Klatt, Friedrich- Wilhelm Ulrich, Dieter Wendish, Gottfried Döhn, Jürgen Arndt and helmsman Klaus -Dieter Ludwig.

At the end of his career, Werner Klatt in 1976 with the GDR rollercoaster victory at the Olympic Games in Montreal. Bernd Baumgart, Gottfried Döhn, Werner Klatt, Roland Kostulski, Joachim Lück, Dieter Wendish, Ulrich Karnatz, Karl -Heinz Prudöhl and Karl -Heinz Danielowski were victorious in both the forward and in the final in front of the British eighth.

The Lieutenant of the People's Navy was active until the turn of the ASK forward Rostock. After that, he was, among other petroleum retailers and pharmacy operators.
