Werner Veigel

Werner Veigel ( born November 9, 1928 in The Hague; † 2 May 1995 Hamburg ) was a German newscaster and radio presenter.

Life

Veigel was the son of a German merchant in The Hague to the world. After high school he completed a commercial apprenticeship in a travel agency. As Radio Hilversum in 1950 was looking for a speaker to Veigel applied - not least because of its good knowledge of Dutch - with success. In February 1954 he moved to NWDR, where he worked as an announcer and newscaster. From 1961 he also worked as a speaker and presenter for television.

In 1966 he was speaker of the evening news, in 1987, he was - as the successor of Karl -Heinz Köpcke - chief spokesman. He was considered a role model when it came to the flawlessness of his emphasis, presentation and pronunciation. He commented on the ARD the Euro Vision Song Contest 1976, 1977 and 1978. 1980 he played himself in Udo Lindenberg's movie Panic times. 1985 spoke Veigel the samples for the German -language version of the produced by Paul Hardcastle dance hits 19 a.

Until 1994, Werner joined Veigel many years for the Osnabrück Manager Axel Kaiser on various galas and international fairs.

In January 1995 Veigel had to give up his work at the news of illness. Dagmar Berghoff became his successor as chief spokesperson for the news.

In February 1995, he outed himself in a Star interview as homosexual. Since 1955, he lived with his partner.

Veigel died of a brain tumor. His grave is in the cemetery Ohlsdorf in Hamburg.
