Wernli AG

The Biscuitfabrik Wernli AG is a Swiss biscuit manufacturer based in Trimbach, Canton of Solothurn, the exported under the brand Wernli in about 30 countries. The company is located in May 2008 wholly owned by the pastry manufacturer founded in 1877 HUG AG in Malters.

History

The foundation stone of the company laid Friedrich Johann Wernli -Studer in 1905, when he opened a confectionery with his two sons in Trimbach. Due to lack of demand, but the operation had to close again. A few years later, the re-establishment of the father's pastry shop by the 17- year-old son, who brought his savings into the company. In 1914 the two brothers Fritz and Paul Wernli took over management of operations and founded the " Biscuit Factory Wernli brothers ."

In 1926 the pastry to the first fully automated biscuit factory in Switzerland has been expanded, giving the company prepared a production advantage. To pack the produced quantities quickly, was developed in cooperation with SIG in Neuhausen Wernli for a packaging line, which was later sold under the name of GRA. Wernli sat since 1965 television commercials as a promotional tool. The slogan " Me hett de Wernli eifach gernli " one of the classics of Swiss advertising. 1982 Wernli was the Swiss market leader in fine baked goods segment. In 1992 it was the commissioning of a new manufacturing plant, which was the most modern biscuit factory in Europe. 2008 Wernli has been completely taken over by the Lucerne biscuit manufacturers HUG. The production site in Trimbach was retained. The Wernli AG continues to exist as an independent subsidiary in Trimbach on.

Together, the two companies employ 400 people worldwide and reported 2008 sales of 145 million Swiss francs.

Products

Wernli specializes in pastry, which often have a high proportion of chocolate. The individual products are then positioned as Swiss quality products, over 35 percent of which are exported. Main competitor is Kambly putting on the premium market.
