Wernstedt is a district of the town Kalbe (Milde ) in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The place is located four kilometers west of Kalbe (Milde ) and 28 kilometers south of Arendsee in the Altmark. The mildness flows around four kilometers east past Wernstedt.

The municipality was part of the district of New Wernstedt.

History

The village Wernstedt at Kalbe an der Milde found in 1319 first mentioned. It is invested here by the then Marquis at the friendly with the family of Warnstedt of Kröcher. However, the village itself seems to be older, after which located in the village of Romanesque stone church suggesting that. Due to their typical construction in the 12-13 Century must be dated. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2009.

After implementation of the association agreement of the previously autonomous municipality Wernstedt Wernstedt district of the new city was Kalbe (Milde ). For the community, the village has flowed Constitution according to § § 86 et seq of the Municipal Code of Saxony -Anhalt has been introduced. The recorded Wernstedt community and future district Wernstedt was the village of the new town of Kalbe (Milde ).
