Wersestadion

The Wersestadion is a football stadium and home of Rot Weiss Ahlen. It is right on the Werse, the namesake of the stadium.

History

The late forties the Ahlener mine colony for TuS Ahlen was built 45 eV Glückaufkampfbahn nearby. After the rise of TuS Ahlen in 1996 in the Regionalliga the club merged with blue - Weiss Ahlen to LR Ahlen (now Rot Weiss Ahlen ). That, at this time, getting on in years and partly dilapidated stadium was rebuilt and enlarged. Since the re- opening in 1997, it bears the new name Wersestadion.

In addition to league games Rot Weiss Ahlen also regularly matches the U19, U20 and U21 teams will be played in Wersestadion.

With effect from 20 October 2011, the Wersestadion passed into the ownership of the city of Ahlen by devolution terms.

Equipment

The stadium has approximately 12,500 seats after the expansion, including 3,000 seats. Of these, 2,000 are located on the covered grandstand and 1,000 in the upper tier of the South Stand. From the standing area are approximately 6,000 covered. There is a TV-friendly floodlights available. The away fans are now housed behind the goal and not on the covered back straight. For the season 2008/ 09 a lawn heating system was installed, which cost 300,000 euros. At the beginning of the season 2009/2010 the South Stand was extended and covered by 1,000 seats. The inauguration took place on September 19, 2009. Initially planned for 2010 Expansion of the North Stand was discarded after the descent of the association in the 3rd league for financial reasons.
