Wes Walz

Wes Walz ( born May 15, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( center ), who played from 1989 to 2007 for the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. Most recently, he was assistant coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Rick Tocchet below.

Career

Roll played during his junior time for the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League. He was selected in the third round at the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 at position 57 of the Boston Bruins, who brought him to the end of the following season for another two games in the NHL.

At the beginning of his professional career in the 1990/91 season roll rarely came into play in the NHL and was often used in the farm team in the American Hockey League, with the Maine Mariners and the Hershey Bears. Although he was able to convince there, reaching an average of more than one point per game, the breakthrough in the NHL was initially denied. He was released to the Philadelphia Flyers, but also played there mostly in the AHL with the Hershey Bears.

For the 1993/94 season rolling joined the Calgary Flames. He started back in the AHL with the Saint John Flames, sat down in the course of the season but in the NHL team, and reached his career - record when he scored 38 points in 53 games. After a spell at the Detroit Red Wings in 1996, he moved to Switzerland to EV train. Here he quickly became a top performer and won with the club in 1998, the Swiss Championship. In 1999, rolling to HC Lugano, but for which he only played a total of 18 games.

On 28 June 2000 signed roll with the new team, the Minnesota Wild, a contract. Here he was able to continue the good performances in Europe and has since belonged to the service providers of the wild. As one of two players who played in Minnesota since the existence of the game, he went into the 2007/ 08 season and held the record with most games for the Wild. However, in early November 2007, he left for personal reasons the squad of the franchise and gave his career end on 1 December 2007.

After the end of his active career, he joined in the summer of 2008 as an assistant coach the Tampa Bay Lightning on. He worked there until his release in February 2010.

Internationally

Roll represented his country at both junior as well as senior citizens level. At the Junior World Cup 1990, he contributed five points in seven games in the gold medal winning Team Canada. For the seniors choice striker was at the 2001 World Championships in use and failed with the team in the quarter-finals against the United States. Roll was successful in the tournament with four assists in six games.
