Wesley Bolin

Harvey Wesley Bolin (* July 1, 1909 in Butler, Missouri; † 4 March 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona ) was an American politician (Democratic Party) and 1977-1978 Governor of the State of Arizona.

Early years and political rise

At the age of seven his family moved to Phoenix. He later graduated at the Phoenix Union High School and at Phoenix College. He then worked for several business enterprises in the Salt River Valley, before he was elected in 1938 and constable in West Phoenix Precinct. From 1943 to 1948 Bolin served as Justice of the Peace ( Justice of the Peace ) at West Phoenix Precinct Court operates. Last year, he was elected Secretary of State. He held this office 13 consecutive terms of office. During this time, Bolin had the post of president of the National Association of Secretaries of State's held for a term. In addition, he worked from 1953 to 1977 in the Associations Executive Board.

Governor of Arizona

In October 1977 he was Governor of Arizona, Raul Hector Castro resigned to accept the post of U.S. ambassador to Argentina. During his tenure as Governor of the State Bar of Arizona the first Liberty Bell Award, presented to him in Arizona in recognition of its role as guardian of the law.

He was married to Marion Elizabeth Wall Indians; the couple had five children together. After his death in 1978, the Plaza was named in Downtown Phoenix against the Arizona State Capitol after him.
