Wesley Sonck

Wesley Sonck ( born August 9, 1978 in Ninove ) is a Belgian footballer who currently stands at Waasland in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League under contract.

Career

The career of the former Ajax striker started for the VK Ninove, before moving to RWD Molenbeek in their teens. Normally he would have been eligible to play for the A- youth, but you put him right in the relegation battle in the Belgian first division. So it was that he and 33 of 34 possible games was already a regular in the 1997/98 season. At the end of the season the RWD Molenbeek dismounted in the second Belgian league and Sonck joined the first league and UEFA Cup hopefuls Germinal Ekeren.

In summer 1999, merged with Germinal Ekeren KVAC Beershot to Germinal Beerschot Antwerp. This newly formed club became the partner of Ajax Amsterdam and tested players in the Belgian league weaker. In 2000, Sonck to KRC Genk. The change from Sonck to KRC Genk came as a surprise, because Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen would Sonck can not leave if Ajax would have objected to this transfer. In the 2001 /02 season Sonck won the Belgian top scorer with 30 goals and played a part in the championship.

In the summer of 2003 Sonck left with 25 years of KRC Genk and signed up for a transfer fee of 5 million at Ajax Amsterdam. However, he did not succeed in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimović to profile itself as a regular player. Since Ibrahimović was sold for 2004/05 season to Juventus, Sonck saw the chance to become number one in the storm of Ajax. But the game system, which consists of a 3- tower ( 2 Forward, 1 center-forward ) was, Sonck was not because he had to leave frequently Ryan Babel of in the middle of the square and dodge on the wing. In January 2005 Sonck joined the Bundesliga to Borussia Mönchengladbach. There he initially struggled with knee problems, then he was also operated at the bar. In summer 2007, announced coach Jos Luhukay and manager Christian goat wanting to abstain from the services of the striker. Thereupon Sonck went in search of a new club. On 20 August 2007, he finally signed a two -year contract with FC Bruges, which was extended for one year in March 2009. Thus Sonck returned after four years abroad, to his home.

In the summer of 2010, Sonck joined the Belgian first division club Lierse SK.

In his first game against KAA Gent, he met directly twice.

For the 2012/13 season Sonck joined newly promoted Waasland.

Belgian national

His debut at the " Red Devils" in the national jersey of the Belgians, he completed on 2 June 2001. In 55 internationals him reach 24 goals so far.
