West (cigarette)
West is a cigarette brand of the company Reemtsma. Reemtsma is part of the Imperial Tobacco Group, one of the largest tobacco companies in the world. It is distributed in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

History
The cigarettes of West brand was introduced in 1981 on the German market and were only available in tobacco shops, since about 1987, they are also available in supermarkets and vending machines first. West is currently (as of 2006) sold the second largest cigarette brand in Germany and is used in over 90 countries.
Products
The following products are represented in the Western range:
- West Red, a cigarette, whose smoke 10 mg tar, 0.8 mg nicotine and 10 mg of carbon monoxide.
- West Silver, formerly under west Light a cigarette, whose smoke contains 7 mg tar, 0.6 mg nicotine, and carbon monoxide 7 mg.
- West Blue, a cigarette, whose smoke 4 mg tar, 0.4 mg nicotine, and carbon monoxide contains 4 mg.
- West Rich Blue, a cigarette, the smoke of which 8 mg tar, 0.7 mg nicotine and 8mg carbon monoxide.
- West ICE, issued a Spearmint flavor menthol cigarette, the smoke of which 7 mg tar, 0.6 mg nicotine, and carbon monoxide 7 mg (some of the flavors is not the tobacco, but the filter added ).
Under the terms of West Red fine cut & West Silver fine-cut tobacco for self- turners will be offered. He is also prepared to plug into finished sleeves.
- West - volume Tobacco Red & Silver is the latest product of the company Reemtsma. It will replace the withdrawn from the market tobacco sticks.
- West Rollies filter Red & Silver denote a strong cigarillo with filter.
Furthermore, there are varieties Red and silver as 100s cigarette (cigarette length of 100 mm instead of the usual 91 mm )
Marketing
The West brand was introduced as " a quality brand at a fair price " on the German market.
Campaigns
Long time West cigarettes were advertised with increasingly diverse campaigns. In 2003, the campaign ( " For .... " ) was performed on Germany's billboards and advertising columns. The motives (2006 ) show the new seasonal pack edition of the West. So there are 5 different packing motifs with painted faces in national colors of Germany, France, England, Italy and Brazil. The faces on the packages are representative of the enthusiasm and internationality in the country, which can be triggered for example by a World Cup. West was also previously special editions of cigarette packaging out: so West in Space Edition, Hard ( cigarettes at Christmas time ) and West Lemon Fresh were briefly among other West Summer Edition, West Cola introduced.
Ban on tobacco advertising
Since 1 January 2007, the tobacco advertising ban is valid. The Reemtsma GmbH has subsequently taken the online presence of the brand from the mains.
Events
West is repeated delivery boy or sponsor various events. Current event is the "West Bra Open, in which it comes to who can take off a woman's bra most stylish. There are also various other activities around party celebrations throughout the year as the West nightclub in cities, West pulses in large discotheques or the Western Power Tower at major events or town festivals open air.
Sponsoring
In Formula 1, West was from 1985 to 1990 sponsor for the team Zakspeed, and later from 1997 to 2005 and for the McLaren Formula 1 team, the drivers 'title in 1998 also could enter the Constructors' title with Mika Häkkinen in 1998 and 1999.
