West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana
The West Feliciana Parish (French: Paroisse de Feliciana Ouest ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In 2010, the Parish had 15,625 inhabitants and a population density of 15.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) St. Francisville.
The West Feliciana Parish is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Baton Rouge.
Geography
The Parish is located east of the geographic center of Louisiana, bordered to the north Mississippi and has an area of 1103 square kilometers, of which 52 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following Parishes and Counties:
History
The Parish was to Maria Feliciana Saint- Maxent, the wife of Bernardo de Gálvez y Madrid, named. West Feliciana Parish was formed in 1824 from parts of Feliciana Parish.

According to the census in 2000 living in West Feliciana Parish 15,111 people in 3,645 households and 2,704 families. The population density was 14 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 48.63 percent White, 50.51 percent Black or African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 0.17 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.03 percent from other races groups; 0.44 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.04 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 3,645 households out of which 38.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.1 percent were married couples living together, 15.6 percent were single mothers, 25.8 percent were non-families, 23.1 percent of all households and 8.2 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.24 persons.
In relation to the parish the population was spread out 20.3 percent of residents under the age of 18, 8.7 percent between 18 and 24 years, 40.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.8 percent between 45 and 64 years and 7.2 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 191.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 223.6 males.
The median income for a household was $ 39,667, and the median income for a family was $ 47,239. Males have a median income of $ 35,046, women $ 21,922. The per capita income was $ 16,201. 15.0 percent of families 19.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 25.3 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 23.4 percent of those 65 years.
