West Memphis is a city in Crittenden County in the U.S. state of Arkansas with 28,100 inhabitants ( 2004). The geographic coordinates are: 35.15 ° North, 90.18 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 68.8 km ². The most famous inhabitant of the city is the blues singer Sonny Boy Williamson II; the legendary musician Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns grew up here.
