West Point Island

West Point Iceland (also known as Albatross Iceland or Spanish Isla Remolinos ) is an island that belongs to the Western Falkland Islands. The island is located in the northwest of the Falkland Islands, near South Jason Iceland. It is 3.7 km long and 2.5 km wide. Its highest point is Mount Misery 337 m above sea level. Your cliffs reach in places a height of over 300 m.

The 12.5 km ² large island was settled about 1860. In addition to the sheep as a source of income were hunted on the island in the 19th century, penguins and sea lions for oil production. Typical species of the Falkland Islands, as rockhopper penguins, black-browed albatrosses and the Commerson's dolphin, are native here.

Immigrants put on West Point, one of the few Falkland Islands where trees grow gardens. To grow in this rather atypical habitat roses, foxgloves, daisies and lilies.
