Geography

West St. Paul is located in the southern suburban area of Saint Paul, near the Mississippi River at 44 ° 54'58 " north latitude and 93 ° 06'06 " west longitude. The city spans 12.98 km ².

History

Until the mid-19th century, the region of Dakota Indians was settled.

The first white settlers arrived in 1848. 1855 was started with the scheduled settlement. First time in 1958, a municipality was founded with the name of West St. Paul. Here, however, it was the part of the present city area of Saint Paul, which is west of the Mississippi.

1887, the city of South St. Paul was founded, which also included the present-day city of West St. Paul. In 1889, the western portion was separated and the present town West St. Paul was born.
