West Visayas State University

The West Visayas State University ( WVSU ) is located in the province of Iloilo in the Philippines. It is regarded as an important educational institution in the administrative region of Western Visayas. 2011 17.121 students enrolled at the university in a second semester

The university is divided into seven locations in the communities:

  • West Visayas State University (Headquarters) Luna Street, Barangay La Paz, Iloilo City
  • College of Agriculture and Forestry Campus, Lambunao
  • WVSU, Calinog Campus
  • WVSU, Janiuay Campus
  • WVSU - Lambunao Campus
  • WVSU - Pototan Campus
  • WVSU - Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental is a called extension campus

Faculties

The West Visayas State University is home to eight different faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational education in colleges. These are College of Business & Management, Institute of ICT, College of PESCAR, College of Nursing, College of Mass Communication, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Medicine.

History

The University's history began in 1902 when the tributary Normal School was opened. In the following years, the school was expanded more and more into the training programs. In 1924 the present main building, the Quezon Hall, inaugurated. 1954, the first four- year-long training nurses to begin. In 1965, the school was upgraded by the Republic Act 4189 and founded the West Visayas State College. In 1986, the college was transferred to the status of a university. The basis for this was the Republic Act 2019.
