Western Islands, Papua New Guinea
Western Isles are called a group of islands and groups of islands in the Bismarck Archipelago.
The islands are geopolitically to Papua New Guinea and are in the western part of the Pacific Ocean, off the northeast coast of New Guinea. At the Western Isles include:
- Ouch
- Hermit Islands ( Hermit Islands)
- Kaniet Islands
- Ninigo Islands
- Wuvulu
In the German Ethnology were the Western Isles - including the island of Manus - also called Paramikronesien. One reason for this naming was the cultural proximity of the islanders to the more familiar northern Micronesia.
Administratively, the islands belong to Manus Province. Ouch and Wuvulu belong to Aua- Wuvulu Rural LLG (Local Level Government) Area, the east of which islands to Nigoherm RLLG.
