Western Transdanubia

Western Transdanubia ( ungar: Nyugat Transdanubia ) is a region in Western Hungary and part of Transdanubia (Latin side of the Danube ).

The region consists of the counties of:

  • Győr- Moson -Sopron,
  • Vas and
  • Zala.

Western Transdanubia is a statistical region according to the NUTS classification (code: HU22 ).

The region is due to its proximity to Austria and Slovenia one of the wealthiest in Hungary. Furthermore, it holds shares in the euro region Centrope.

The largest cities are Westtransdanubiens Győr and Szombathely.
