Westhausen, Hildburghausen
West Hausen is a municipality of Heldburger country in Hildburghausen in Thuringia. It belongs to the administrative community to Heldburger lowlands. The administrative headquarters are in the town of Bad Colberg- Heldburg. The municipality belongs to the district Haubinda.

Geography
Geographical Location
West Hausen is situated about 330 m above sea level in one created by nature, broad and flat expiring valley with hilly landscape. On the outskirts there are three source streams unite to Westhäuser Kreck.
Community structure
The municipality consists of the villages Westhausen Westhausen and Haubinda, an old manor.
Climate
The climate of the region is temperate. In the north of the Thuringian forest and in the west the Rhön protects against cold north wind.
History
The community of West Hausen, a Frankish scattered village was 776 mentioned the time of Charles the Great the first time. This makes it the oldest community in Heldburger country and in the district of Hildburghausen. The district is called Haubinda 1317 as Heuwinden first time. The cemetery was once (also called bowers ) with Gaden provided and double wall and served to protect the residents if they had to retreat in times of crisis to the churchyard.
West Hausen was 1662-1663 affected by witch hunts. Klaus Rückert's wife Margaretha was caught in a witch trial.

Education
In the district there are Haubinda founded in 1901 by the reform pedagogues Lietz and named after him, Hermann- Lietz -Schule, a reform educational boarding school with a base and a rule, and a technical college. Education programs for secondary school, Qualifying High school, College student and college entrance offered.

Choirs and chapels
In Western Hausen of the glee club exist recovery of 1908 and the brass band Westhausen.
Clubs
For physical training is in place the sports club SV 08 Westhausen with the departments football, table tennis and Nordic walking are available. The Kleintierzuchtverein West Hausen and environment eV was founded in 1972. The Aero Club of South Thuringia in 1998 is based in West Hausen.
Structures
The Protestant Church of St. Kilian was built around 1500. The old school building in West Hausen dates from the year 1895. The school building of the Hermann - Lietz -Schule Haubinda was built in 1900.
Regular events
The fair ( fair ) takes place every year in June, the Backhaus festival in August.
