Westphalia Cup

The Westphalia Cup ( official name: Krombacher Cup ) is the association football cup competition of track and field federation Westphalia ( FLVW ). The men's competition has been held since 1981. Both finalists will qualify for the first round of the DFB Cup. Reigning champions is Arminia Bielefeld. Record winner with seven titles, the SC Paderborn 07

In the competition of women, only the winners of the first round of the DFB Cup qualified. Acting cup winners are the Sportfreunde Siegen, record winner is the TSV Siegen - in which the women's team of Siegen was settled earlier - with nine titles.

Westphalia Cup Men

Mode

On Westphalia Cup Men take part 64 teams. Automatically qualify the Westphalian teams that have played in the preseason in the 3rd League and the Regional. The remaining teams qualified via the county cup competitions. Each district association sent, depending on the size of one to four teams in the Westphalia Cup. As a basis for measurement, the number of the district association belonging to associations is used. Dortmund, the largest district association has a contingent of four squares. Second teams are no longer eligible since 2007.

Come to 2014/15 season new qualification regulations in force. The field remains unchanged at 64 teams, with the third - Westphalia and regional league team qualify automatically. What is new is that the teams who places two to six is in the Oberliga Westfalen and the masters of the two Westphalia league seasons, the four national league seasons and the twelve district league seasons are also qualified. Then there are the 30 county cup winners. The remaining seats go in the circles that report the most Mr. teams playing in the county leagues.

The Westphalia Cup will be played in the knockout system. In each round, there is a game. If a game is tied after 90 minutes, the game shall be extended for two periods of 15 minutes. If then still no decision have fallen, followed by a penalty shootout. The roles of the individual rounds are drawn. At the games at the county level and the first and second rounds at association level, the lower class team has home advantage. In the following rounds at the association level, only the county league teams always have home. Play two teams from the same league level against each other, the first drawn team has a home game. Westphalia Cup Women

Mode

On Westphalia Cup women participate 32 teams. Automatically qualify the Westphalian teams that have played in the previous season in the regional league. The remaining teams qualified via the county cup competitions.
