Westphalian horse

The Westphalian is a breed of horse and after the Hanoverian the second largest closed German warmblood breeding.

Exterior

The Westphalian meet the expectations of today's sport horse type. He is the Hanoverian, by whom he was influenced, very similar, but often somewhat coarser than this, since less than thoroughbreds in the Hanoverian breeding were used.

Interior

The Westphalian is considered to be relatively quiet sport horse that is also suitable as a pleasure horse. It shows willingness to learn and reliability. He is like most German warmbloods friendly and people oriented.

Breeding history

The State Stud Warendorf, the center of the Westphalia breeding, was founded in 1826. Beginning of the breeding success was very low because the Anfordernisse the peasant environment were not taken into account in the breeding goals of the stud.
