Westphalweg (Berlin U-Bahn)

The metro station is a Westphalweg opened on February 28, 1966 Station of the Berlin U -Bahn line U6 in the district of Marie village of the district Tempelhof- Schöneberg. The station is managed BVG internally under the symbol Wl.

The metro station is located at the Marie Damm. He is therefore outside the S- Bahn ring and belongs to the Berlin Tariff Zone B of the Transport Association Berlin- Brandenburg. Namesake of the Westphalweges was the first full-time community leader of the village Marie Hugo Wilhelm Westphal ( 1859-1925 ). History

In June 1961, the route expansion of that line CII in the south began. Starting from Tempelhof station, the line was further expanded under the Tempelhof and Marie Damm. The section where the train station is Westphalweg, was opened on 28 February 1966. In the subsequent reorganization of the Berlin U -Bahn line numbering on March 1, 1966, the line CII ( Tempelhof - Mehring Damm) has been renamed to "Line 6" and took its final route from Tegel (since May 31, 1992: Alt-Tegel ) to Alt -Marie village. In early 1984 - after the acquisition of the S -Bahn in West Berlin by the BVG - renaming the line 6 in "U6 ".

Design of the station

The Westphalweg station has a central platform and outputs on both platforms. These are higher-level lobbies, which are connected by stairs to the platform. The station has no barrier-free access, however, four different approaches stairs. The two northern entrances are located for reasons of space in the houses opposite Marie Damm 61 and 64

In the lobbies, the colors white, yellow and different shades of green predominate. In the station hall, the walls are clad with vertically arranged large-sized blue ceramic tiles. The center supports are covered in reddish brick finish.

In 2009, the BVG was take off the advertising boards at the station and replace in December 2009 by white wall tiles with different large-scale floral motifs.

The station was - like all the stations of the roadway support between Tempelhof and Alt- Marie village, with the exception of the station Alt-Tempelhof - designed by architect Rainer G. Rümmler.

At the metro station is a transfer possibility from the U6 bus line 282 to the Berlin public transport.
