Geography

Westport is located on a peninsula on the south side of the opening of Grays Harbor to the Pacific Ocean. The public Westport Marina is the largest marina on the western seaboard of the U.S. states in the Pacific Northwest.

The marina is home port to a commercial fishing fleet and several boats engaged in fishing on tourist base. A circulating in summer only ferry connects the city to Ocean Shores on the north, opposite side of the sea opening.

History

Westport became a town on 26 June 1914. Earlier names for the settlement were Peterson 's Point Chehalis City. Prior to the city's founding existed under the name Ft. Chehalis in 1860 a branch.
