Westrozebeke

Westrozebeke ( to West German Rosenbach ) is a small village in the heart of West Flanders. It belongs to the municipality of Staden and lies about 10 km from Roeselare and 15 km from Ypres. The village lies on a hill, from where you can, especially to the west, has impressive views.

The village is best known for the Battle of Roosebeke, in a Flemish army, led by Philip van Artevelde (Jacob van Velde Arte son ) against the French army under the leadership of Lodwijk II van Male and Charles VI. fought by France and lost. Philip died in the battle in the fight.
