Wetteren is a Belgian municipality in the Flemish Region on the south bank of the Scheldt. It is located in the province of East Flanders and belongs to Arrondissement of Dendermonde.

Ghent is situated 11 km west, 12 km southeast Aalst, Dendermonde 15 km east, 37 km south-east of Brussels and Antwerp, 42 km north-east (all figures in a straight line to the city centers ).

The municipality has a motorway in the southwest on the A10 / E40 With Beer Velde in the north on the A14 / E 17 and at Ghent there are more connection points.
