History
Wettswil am Albis was first mentioned in documents as Wettesweilare in 1184, the actual founding of the village lies in the period of migration, as the Alemanni, Switzerland populated. A tribal chief named Wetto or Wettin, which has become settled here with his family, should have given the village its name. In addition to the viticulture experienced in 1850 the Lehmstechen and the brick factory with a short flowering period; in the community at that time there were no less than three hand brickworks.
