Weyersheim

Weyer home is a commune with 3371 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to Arrondissement Strasbourg- Campagne.

Geography

Weyer home is located 15 km north-east of Strasbourg at the anger.

The neighboring municipalities are clockwise Gries in the north, Bischwiller in the east, in the southeast Gambsheim, Kilstett in the south, Hœrdt the southwest, Bietlenheim in the west and Kurtz House in the Northwest.

History

Weyer home was mentioned in a deed of gift in favor of the monastery of Wissembourg 774 for the first time.

During the Thirty Years' War, the town was almost completely destroyed twice. Only one house, the Kleenderfel, is considered one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Alsace remained intact.

Since 2000 there is a formal twinning with Rot am See. Informal contacts date back to the 1980s.

Culture and sights

The Classicist Church of Saint- Michel was built from 1784 Salins de Montfort. It is equipped with an organ from 1877 and registered in the Inventaire des Monuments Historiques SUPPLEMENTAIRE since 1930.
