WFC Lehenda-ShVSM Chernihiv

Legend Cheksil Chernigov is a Ukrainian Sports Club of Chernihiv. The figurehead of the club is the women's football department.

History

The club was founded in 1987 and already took a short time later for the first time in the Soviet women's football league. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992 the club was a founding member of the Ukrainian league. After they finished midfield places regularly in the nineties was hailed in 2000, the first championship. In the UEFA Women 's Cup one was second in the group behind FC Toulouse. 2002 next to the second championship for the first time the Cup was won. At the European level it was again second in the group, this time behind the Swedish club Malmö FF. In order to promote youth development, the association founded a youth academy for girls between nine and 15 years. 2005, the third so far champion title was won. For the first time the preliminary round group could be won. However, it had the Ukrainians to do with the rather weak opponents. In the second round they met with Umeå IK (Sweden), Kolbotn IL (Norway) and Espanyol on very strong opponents.
