When the Day Breaks

When the Day Breaks is a Canadian animated short film by Amanda Forbis and Wendy Tilby from the year 1999.

Action

The day starts. A cock goes shopping after breakfast. Lady pig Ruby noticed during the potato peeling, that she has no more milk at home, and also goes shopping. At the door of the grocery store she bumps into the faucet and a lemon falls out of his shopping bags in drains. Production

Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis had met in 1985 at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in British Columbia. Both worked for about four years to When the Day Breaks, which was animated consuming. First, both filmed the scenes in Hi8, copied it on video and printed the individual frames on thermal paper, which in turn was copied. The individual images were finally drawn directly on the copies with oil paint.

The songs in the movie are sung by Martha Wainwright and Chaim Tannenbaum.

Awards
