When the Rain Begins to Fall is a song by Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora. The piece was published on 12 September 1984, written by Peggy March, Michael Bradley and Steve Witt Mack. The producer of the title is Jack White. The title was in the soundtrack of the movie Voyage of the Rock Aliens (English title skirt Aliens - Let's Dance Tonight) use.

Background

Pia Zadora had tried in the early 1980s with moderate success as an actress and wanted to spend more time on a career as a singer. Here you should help the producer Jack White. Was composed the song by Michael Bradley and Steve Witt Mack, the text is taken from the famous pop singer Peggy March. Zadora first took on a version with a backup singer. Don King, a friend of both Jermaine Jackson and by Zadora, heard this version, and loved the song. He put it in front of Jackson, who was also fond of the song. Both Jackson Zadora wanted a commercial success and they took under the direction of Jack White the song in the original as well as a Spanish-language version, titled Si se pone a llover. Jack White has also produced a successful German -language version with Lena Valaitis and Costa Cordalis and the title When the rain falls on us.

The song became a top ten hit in many European countries, while it is only number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. reached. As well as the single and the movie Voyage of the Rock Aliens in the United States was a failure. In Germany the success of the song Pia Zadora gave a cameo appearance in the film comedy The Formula One film.

Music Video

The video, shot in the Italian coastal town of Sperlonga, shows how Jermaine Jackson motorcycle gang waits for Pia Zadoras clique, which then launches its motorcycles and travels to Jackson's clique. When the two meet, Jackson sings the beginning of the song. They meet in a bar again. Later members of the cliques from the bar disappear Zadora flees and avoids confrontation. After a renewed flight from Jackson and Zadora they are placed in a forest. The result is a fight, and at the end flees Zadoras clique on their motorcycles. The video was shot and directed by Bob Giraldi. In the clip you can also see parts of the film Voyage of the Rock Aliens.

The song has been covered 2005-2011 and again is been almost identical to the original. There was a marked case the video in which a kind of black soul singer jetted in beetle shape with a couple of " cronies " by a miniature world.
