While She Sleeps
While She Sleeps is a British metalcore band from Sheffield.
The group is currently at Shock Records (Australia), Good Fight Music ( United States) and Search and Destroy Records ( UK ) under contract. With the release of debut EP "The North Stands for Nothing", which was several times reprinted, the group was able to gain a lot of attention in their home country.
While She Sleeps already played at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Sonisphere Festival and the Download Festival. In 2012, the group was at the Kerrang! Awards in the category " Best British Newcomer" and was nominated to win in the category of "Breakthrough Artist" at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. The debut album " This Is the Six" was released in August and went straight into the Top 40 in the UK charts.

History
Foundation and The North Stands for Nothing (2006-2011)
Founded as the group While She Sleeps in 2006 by vocalist Jordan Widdowson, drummer Adam Savage, bassist Aaran McKanzie, as well as Sean Long and Matt Welsh guitarist. The musicians played previously in several bands. In 2009, the musicians decided, after they had already played several shows to completely concentrate on the band. At this time Widdowson left the group due to labor difficulties. After the group found in Lawrence Taylor a new singer, the group began work on the EP "The North Stands for Nothing". From the end of the year from 2009 to 2010, the group toured the United Kingdom. 2010 While She Sleeps played for the first time on the Sonisphere Festival. In October, the group signed with Good Fight Music, which distribute products of the band in the United States.
The group released on July 26, 2010, "The North Stands for Nothing", the debut EP that on Small Town Records (including Fei Comodo ) and Good Fight Music (including Madball, Funeral for a Friend, This or the Apocalypse, The Chariot and Fit for an Autopsy was produced ) and distributed. In the U.S., the EP was released on November 23, 2010 in Japan on 22 December 2010 via Doom Patrol. A re-release in the U.S. on 26 July 2011. In Australia, the EP was released through Shock Records on 9 December 2011. Small Town Records released 20 February 2012 the EP as a record.
Through the publication of the EP and the distinct tours of the United Kingdom, the Group received attention in the national media and from various music label. On 15 February 2011, the group played a gig in the Maida Vale studios for BBC Radio 1 on 15 March 2011, the non-album single " Be ( lie) ve " appeared on Good Fight Music. On 4 May, the group was opening for Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway Drive at the O2 Academy in Sheffield. The group was invited by Bring Me the Horizon to play as support band on the U.S. tour. However, the group had to cancel due to immigration problems this. In October 2011, the group played their first headlining tour of the UK and Europe with Bury Tomorrow and Feed The Rhino. While She Sleeps already toured with Adept, Shadows Chasing Ghosts, Fei Comodo, Betraying the Martyrs and Upon This Dawning. 2011 the group played at the Sonisphere Festival.
This Is the Six (2011-2013)
On 1 November 2011, the group started working with producer Carl Brown on the debut album. The drums were recorded in the Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire. The rest of the work took place in Chesterfield in the Treehouse Studios. After the recording sessions were completed the group played in February 2012 on the " Kerrang! Tour " together with Sum 41, New Found Glory, The Blackout and Letlive. On March 27, 2012 it was announced that the debut album on Search and Destroy Records to be published. On the 4th of April, the British magazine Kerrang! announced that the album, " This Is the Six" will be called, will be issued on 6 August 2012. Already 11 May 2012 appeared with " This Is the Six" the eponymous first Singleauskupplung.
The group played in mid-2012 at Rock am Ring (Nurburgring ) and Rock im Park ( Nuremberg). The group played at the Download Festival. In the same month, While She Sleeps won at the Kerrang! Awards in the category " Best British Newcomer". The band for the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in the category "Breakthrough Artist" was nominated. In this category the band Ghost won.
In July and August, the group toured with House vs. Hurricane the first time around Australia. It was followed by a European tour from 26 September 2012 to 5th October 2012 where the group appeared together with Bleed from Within and Cross Faith by the United Kingdom. For mid-2013 it was announced that While She Sleeps would play on the Warped Tour.
In January and February, While She Sleeps toured as a " Special Guest " with Betraying the Martyrs, Motionless in White and Asking Alexandria through Europe. This concert tour led by the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland. In February and March, followed by an appearance at the Soundwave Festival in Australia. Directly after the band was the opening act for Parkway Drive on their tour that ran through the USA and Canada. In sporadic shows also occurred Veil of Maya and The Word Alive on as support. There was a short tour of the United Kingdom. It was followed by the appearance at the Warped Tour, where the group took part in every concert in the U.S. and Canada. The musicians were spending during the Warped Tour announced that the group working on the successor of This is the Six.
New studio album (2013 - present)
Aaran McKenzie and Lawrence Taylor announced in an interview on July 8, 2013, that the group is working on material for their second studio album. At this time the band played as part of the Warped tour their second tour in North America. Away from the tour, the two musicians, write the group of new pieces. The musicians were planning to move into the studio a few weeks after the end of the Warped Tour.
In February and March 2014, the group should play together with Callejon as the opening act for Bullet for My Valentine a European tour through the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia lead sollte.Aufgrund of problems on the vocal cords of the singer after surgery, they had to cancel the tour, however, as they announced a video on their Facebook page. Despite the temporary departure of the singer's work on the new album at full speed ran. The group will play their first concert after surgery on the vocal cords of the singer in June 2014, to the Download Festival.
Music style
While She Sleeps play the classic version of metalcore and are often compared with other known representatives of the genre such as Bring Me the Horizon, Architects and Cancer Bats. The musicians themselves are Thrice, Underoath, Alexisonfire, Slipknot, Foo Fighters, Comeback Kid, Refused, Marilyn Manson and Gallows on musical influences as from While She Sleeps.
In addition to the typical metalcore instrumentalization, the group is known to incorporate melodic guitar riffs and piano pieces in the songs. This leaves the sound of the music of While She Sleeps act progressively.
