Whistlin' Alex Moore

" Whistling " Alex Moore ( born November 22, 1899 as Alexander Herman Moore in Dallas, † January 20, 1989 in Dallas ) was an American singer and piano player of the Texas blues.

After the death of his father he had to leave school at the age of eleven, to work.

In the early 1920s he had his first gigs at parties and in clubs, after he had already heard some years ago on the radio. In 1929 he recorded his first three records for Columbia Records. In the following years he appeared on and in 1937 he made more recordings for Decca Records.

In 1987, two years before his death, he was honored by the Foundation " National Endowment For The Arts " for his life's work.
