Whitaker's Almanack

Whitaker's Almanack is an English reference book that is published annually in the UK. The book was published from 1868 to 1997 by J. Whitaker & Sons, then at The Stationery Office and since 2003 at the Bloomsbury belonging to A & C Black.

Content

The Almanack consists of articles, lists, and tables that relate to a wide range of issues, such as education and government in terms of health, social issues and the environment. The largest sections are: the country directory containing new history, politics, economic information and culture reviews. Extensively are also the astronomical data that comprise the upcoming year. Whitaker's Almanack is not an encyclopedia, but rather a yearbook of contemporary affairs and the list of various institutions in the UK ( such as clubs, vulnerable institutions and universities ). Winston Churchill personally interested in the continued publication of the book.

Every year Whitaker's Almanack is printed in two formats: the standard and shortened edition. Both editions were in 1993 and 2004 re-designed to increase the page size and improve legibility.

Current Chief of The Whitakers Almanacks is Claire Fogg.
