The album was the commercial breakthrough of the White Stripes. White Blood Cells peaked at number 61 on the Billboard 200 and reached gold status. The Stylus Magazine placed it at number 15 of the best albums of 2000-2005.
The album is dedicated to Loretta Lynn, a " good friend " of the White Stripes. Jack White -produced 2004 comeback album ( Van Lear Rose) by Loretta Lynn.
The bassist from Redd Kross, Steven Shane McDonald, published a project that is only accessed on line: He added the 16 (actually bassless ) songs added a bass track. The White Stripes with Steven cleared to take the files by 60,000 downloads again from the side.
All songs are of Jack and Meg White and were also written by them.
- Many places in the lyrics are direct quotes or refer to the movie Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. However, there was no dedication in the liner notes.
