White County (Arkansas)

The White County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Searcy. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the central northeastern Arkansas and has an area of 2700 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The White County was formed on October 23, 1835 from parts of Independence County, the Jackson County and Pulaski County. It was named after Hugh Lawson White, a U.S. Senator from Tennessee.
