White County (Indiana)

White County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Monticello.

Geography

The County is located in the middle of Northwest Indiana and has an area of ​​1318 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Pulaski County, Cass County, Carroll County, Tippecanoe County, Benton County and Jasper County.

History

White County was formed on February 1, 1834 from parts of Carroll County. It was named after Isaac White, a colonel and hero, killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe.
