The Weißstirnlangur ( Presbytis frontata ) is a primate of the group of monkeys Slim ( Presbytini ).

Features

The fur of the Weißstirnlanguren is colored yellowish- brown on the back and gray-brown on the belly, hands and feet are black. Also black is the head, which is characterized by the occurring of all Mützenlanguren hair. Is the eponymous whitish patch on the front of the hair tuft. With around 5.6 kilograms, it is relatively small primates, they are built slim and have a long tail and long hind legs.

Distribution and habitat

Weißstirnlanguren are found only on the island of Borneo. Its distribution area covers the central and eastern parts of the island and extends from the Malaysian state of Sarawak to Indonesian coast. Habitat of these animals are low-lying rainforests, they are rarely at altitudes above 300 meters in front.

Way of life

Weißstirnlanguren are diurnal and arboreal. They are skillful climbers who move around or jumping on all fours through the branches. They live in groups of 10 to 15 animals, these are mostly harem groups consisting of one male and several females and young animals. There are also a loner living males. These primates are herbivores that mainly young leaves, but in addition also fruits and seeds consume. Like all monkeys, they have a multi-chambered Slim stomach, which benefits them in the recovery of indigestible food leaves.

Threat

Little is known about the degree of danger Weißstirnlangurs. The progressive destruction of habitat likely to be the main threat, the IUCN lists it " there is insufficient data".
