White Lion

Biography

Fight to Survive - The Beginnings

In 1982, vocalist Mike Tramp of Denmark moved to New York. A short time later he met the guitarist Vito Bratta and they decided to form a rock band called White Lion. They won the bassist and drummer Mike Bruce Terkildsen Arbeny for their project. End of 1983 came with Bruno Ravel, a bassist, Why They in the same year recorded their debut album Fight To Survive, which their record company Elektra Records but did not like and therefore initially remained unpublished. While the studio recordings, there was a line-up change: Bruce Terkildsen, Bruna Ravel and Mike Arbeny left the band, bassist Felix Robinson and drummer Nicki Capozzi were added.

The album Fight to Survive was bought by RCA and released in Japan in 1984. The American independent label Grand Slamm Records released it then on 9 November 1985 in the United States. Because of disputes with the record company and the economic uncertainty of the band left Capozzi and Robinson White Lion and were the drummer Greg D' Angelo ( ex- Anthrax) and Dave Spitz replaced (brother of Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz ). After only a few weeks, Dave Spitz decided to leave the band and switch to Black Sabbath. Then James Lomenzo came as a bass guitarist to do so.

The rise

In 1987, White Lion signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records and on 21 June of the same year they released their album Pride. The first single, Wait was released on 1 June 1987 and was seven months unnoticed on the shelves. Over the next year and a half they toured as the opening act for bands such as Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Stryper, KISS and AC / DC. During her tour with AC / DC, the band managed to climb to the single release of their song Wait at number six on the charts. The album reached a Pride Charts placement. Pride climbed into the album charts at number eleven and remained a whole year on the Billboard Top -200. In August 1988, the second single Tell Me reached # 58 The third single from the album When The Children Cry reached number three. The success of the three singles meant that more than two million albums were sold.

The beginning of the end

In August 1989, White Lion released their third album Big Game, which contained the singles Little Fighter, Cry for Freedom and Radar Love ( a cover of Golden Earring). The album quickly reached gold, but without a proper hit single, it reached only 19th on the album Mane Attraction was released in summer 1991. Should go back to the roots, so back to the melodic hard rock with catchy guitar riffs. But it was not accepted by the fans and managed to not like the last two albums, the leap into the top 20th Greg D' Angelo and James Lomenzo left the band shortly after the release of Mane Attraction due to " musical differences ". White Lion committed bassist Tommy T -Bone Caradonna and drummer Jimmy the later Megadeth DeGrasso. After the tour, the album, Tramp and Bratta decided in September 1991 to dissolve the band.

In 2003, Mike Tramp attempted a reunion of the band with Vito Bratta. But the attempt failed because of the unwillingness Brattas. In March 2005, toured with Mike Tramp Mike Tramp's White Lion for two months in America. Of these concerts the best recordings were released as a double live CD Rocking the USA. In 2006, he also toured in Europe.

In March 2008, the new studio album Return of the Pride was released by Frontiers Records with Mike Tramp under the old band name White Lion. Other musicians are: Jamie Law (guitar), Troy Patrick Farrell (drums), EJ Curse (bass) and Henning Wanner (keyboards).
