White Noise (Band)

White Noise is a band of experimental electronic music, which was founded in London by David Vorhaus, Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson in 1969.

Work

An Electric Storm

As the first album the band released in 1969 on Electric Storm in Iceland Records. The album was produced by utilizing a variety of tape manipulation techniques and the early use of the first British synthesizer EMS VCS 3. Among other peculiarities of the first track of the album was played at an increased rate to give the bass playing of a vestibule violins and cello - like sound.

Although initially failed to commercial success in Iceland, the band was traded over time as secret and sold over the years many albums.

A short section of the album is the soundtrack of the film Dracula hunts Mini Girls used.

White Noise II-III

After Derbyshire and Hodgson had left the band, Vorhaus published in 1974 another, mostly instrumental album White Noise II - Concerto for Synthesizer with Virgin Records.

The album White Noise III - Re -entry contained only one piece, Space Fantasy, and was published in 1980 with Pulse Records. Received support Vorhaus here by drummer Dino Ferrari.

White Noise IV-V

Two more albums, White Noise IV - Inferno and White Noise V - Sound Mind was published in 1990 and 2000 at AMP Music.
