Olivflanken Warbler ( Basileuterus leucoblepharus )

The Olivflanken Warbler ( Basileuterus leucoblepharus ) is a small passerine bird in the family of warblers ( Parulidae ).

Olivflanken Warbler reach a body length of 14 to 15 centimeters and weigh around 14 to 21 grams. The wing length is 6.3 to 6.5 inches in the male, the female, 5.9 to 6.5 centimeters. Adults Olivflanken Warbler and young birds from the first year wearing a dark gray crown stripe; the rest of the head plumage is gray. From the beak base a black line runs to the back of the neck. To the eye there is a broken white eye-ring. The top plumage is olive to olive brown; the underside gray-white plumage, which expires in yellow to the rear.

The distribution area extends from Brazil to Paraguay to Uruguay and Argentina. Olivflanken Warbler inhabit forests from an altitude of 1600 meters.

There are two recognized subspecies:

  • Basileuterus leucoblepharus leucoblepharus ( Vieillot, 1817) - Southeastern Brazil, Southern Paraguay, Northeastern Argentina
  • Basileuterus leucoblepharus lemurum Olson, 1975 - South East of Uruguay and Southeastern Brazil
