Whitecourt

Whitecourt is a town in the Canadian province of Alberta in Woodlands County, about 175 kilometers northwest of Edmonton. The village can be reached via the Alberta Highway 43 and Highway 32, Alberta. Whitecourt is located on the Athabasca River and the McLeod River. Whitecourt counts 8971 inhabitants ( 2006).

The economy of Whitecourt depends mainly on agriculture, forestry and the sale of natural gas and oil. The town received in 1910 from a postmaster its present name Whitecourt.
