Whiteside County, Illinois

The Whiteside County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 58 498 inhabitants and a population density of 33 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Morrison.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Illinois on the east bank of the Mississippi River, which also forms a natural border with Iowa. From east to south-west the county is drained by the Rock River. History

The Whiteside County was formed on January 16, 1836 from Jo Daviess County and parts of Henry County. It was named after Samuel Whiteside, a colonel in the territorial militia and General during the Black - Hawk - war.
