White Town is a city in the U.S. state of New York. Whitestown is located in Oneida County west of Utica at the New York State Thruway ( Interstate 90). The city has 18,635 inhabitants ( 2000) and was named after Judge Hugh White, an early settler, named.

History

The settlement of the area began in 1784 and was the first permanent settlement in the county. The town of Whitestown was founded in 1788 with an area of ​​49.000 km ². Because many cities and counties were established by White Town from, it is also called " mother of all cities ."

The city of Paris and the city of Steubenville were founded in 1792 by White Town from; the city Cazenovia in 1793 and the city of Augusta in 1798, Utica 1817 and the city of New Hartford in 1827.
