Whitfield County, Georgia
The Whitfield County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dalton.
Geography
The County is located in northwestern Georgia, Tennessee and bordered to the north is to the west about 50 miles from Alabama away. It has an area of 753 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers is water area, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Murray County, Gordon County, Walker County and Catoosa County.
History
Whitfield County was formed on December 30, 1851 97 County of Georgia from parts of the Murray County. It was named after the Reverend George Whitefield, the founder of the Bethesda Orphan House in Savannah.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Whitfield County 83 525 people in 29,385 households and 22,156 families. The population density was 111 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 80.94 percent White, 3.85 percent African American, 0.35 percent Native American, 0.92 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 12.01 percent from other races groups; 1.90 percent were descended from two or more races. 22.05 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 29,385 households out of which 36.8 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.5 percent were married couples living together, 10.8 percent were single mothers and 24.6 percent were non-families. 20.6 percent of all households and 8.2 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.82 and the average family size was 3.24 persons.
27.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 10.0 percent between 18 and 24, 30.8 percent between 25 and 44, 21.5 percent between 45 and 64 and 10.3 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 101.3 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.9 males.
The median income for a household was $ 39,377, and the median income for a family $ 44,652. Males have a median income of $ 30,122, women $ 23,709. The per capita income was $ 18,515. 8.6 percent of families and 11.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
