Whitney Smith

Whitney Smith ( born February 26, 1940 in Arlington ( Massachusetts)) is an American Vexillologe. The term vexillology ( flag customer) was introduced by him in 1959.

In 1962 Smith the Flag Research Center in Winchester (Massachusetts ). He has held a leading role in the founding of the North American Vexillological Association ( NAVA ) in 1967. He wrote several books about flags and designed the Flag of Guyana and worked for various governments and other organizations as a consultant.
