Why (Arizona)

Why is a village in the west of the U.S. state of Arizona Pima County associated with less than 1000 inhabitants. It lies at the confluence of the Arizona State Highway No. 86 from Tucson in the Arizona State Highway No. 85 between Ajo in the north and the border with Mexico. The village lies on the northern entrance to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Motels and a campground offer overnight accommodations.

Location

The place is surrounded by mountain ranges of the articulated Sonoran semi-desert in southern Arizona. In the West, the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, a wildlife sanctuary adjoins. To the east is the reservation of the Papago Indians. The nearest town is 16 km away, former mining settlement Ajo in the northwest.
