Wichian Buri District

Amphoe Wichian Buri ( Thai: อำเภอ วิเชียรบุรี, pronunciation: [ wíʧian - buri ː ] ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southern part of the province of Phetchabun, which is expected to northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (clockwise): Bueng Sam Phan ( Phetchabun province ), Phakdi Chumphon and Thep Sathit ( Chaiyaphum province ), Si Thep ( Phetchabun province ), and Phaisali ( Nakhon Sawan ).

History

Historically the area of Wichian Buri from Mueang Tha Rong was administered. King Phra Nang Klao (Rama III. ) Rose Tha Rong to the rank of a city ( Mueang ), by merging Bua Chum Chai and Bandan to a unit and this gave the name Wichian Buri. When King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) the Monthon Phetchabun created, Wichian Buri was assumed in 1898 in Phetchabun. The name of the district was amended by the Act of 17 April 1939 in Tha Rong, but in 1944 again changed back to Wichian Buri.

Management

The district is ( tambon) divided into 14 municipalities, each managed by a Tambon Administrative Organization ( TAO). The 14 municipalities are in turn subdivided into 177 villages ( Muban ).

There are two cities ( thesaban tambon):

  • Wichian Buri ( เทศบาล ตำบล วิเชียรบุรี ) consists of parts of Tambons Tha Rong and Sat Pradu,
  • Phu Toei ( เทศบาล ตำบล พุ เตย ) consists of parts of Tambons Phu Thoei.

There are also 14 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations).
