Widmannstätten (crater)

Widmann sites is an impact crater on the eastern limb of the Moon front in the south of Mare Smythii. The crater is flooded by lavas of Mare and covers the western part of the crater Kiess.

The crater was officially named in 1973 by the IAU by the Austrian scientist Alois Widmanstätten - of Beckham.
