Wiedenfeld

Wieden field was until 1958 an independent municipality in the district of Bergheim and resettlement due to the opencast Bergheim 1965 part of the town of Bergheim. With Wieden field disappeared also the places Frauenweiler and Garsdorf from the map.

History

Just as with Mrs Weiler and Garsdorf the story Wieden field will begin with a document from the early 12th century. The name Wieden field, freely translated as much as a box in the woods. First Lord of Wieden field is the count of Jülich. However, as too often in history, change the ruler over the years.

A special feature has Wieden field in contrast to its neighboring villages and hamlets woman Garsdorf. It had a second " district ". At the eastern end of Wieden field was Monday send. With industrialization by mining it attracted many workers in the place. 1956, there were 360 people.

Was the local establishment of Wieden field, Mrs Weiler and Garsdorf the same, so also their end was the same. On April 1, 1958, the independent municipality Wieden field was disbanded and came to the town of Bergheim. 1968 were the excavator mining Garsdorf at the door. The Wiedenfelder found a new home in New Wieden field at Bergheim. In memory of the place the recreation area between Niederaußem and Bergheim is now called Wiedenfelder height and is accessible via the B 477.
